Who you are

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data Foundations team within the Remote & Chat Domain, Data & Analytics.

Our team supports IKEA’s remote capabilities by building data products behind multichannel contact and resolutions systems and thus enabling comprehensive, holisitc data-analytics across the board. We work across the entirety of customer and coworker journey.In this role, you will help build reliable and scalable data solutions that support strategic and operational decision-making.

We are looking for the following:

Strong knowledge of advanced data structures, data architecture, distributed computing, and cloud-based services

Strong knowledge of any of the cloud-based data warehousing tools such as GCP BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.

Strong knowledge of SQL for data processing and analysis

Strong knowledge of data-transformation tools such as GCP Dataform, DBT, or analogs.

Extensive knowledge of programming languages. We mainly use Python, but experience with other languages is also an advantage

Understanding of functional and object-oriented programming paradigms

Knowledge of tools for extracting, ingesting, and processing real-time and large datasets

Experience with machine learning models, pipelines, and deployment

Broad knowledge of digital product development principles and the importance of rapid, validated learning cycles to optimize long-term performance

Broad knowledge of modern collaborative software engineering practices, such as Agile and DevOps, where solutions evolve through the efforts of self-organizing, cross-functional teams.

Strong understanding of AI infrastructure-related topics, namely semantic layers, data curation, etc.

A team player who takes ownership, builds cross-functional relationships with senior peers, and enjoys sharing knowledge with more junior team members

A curious problem solver who wants to keep learning

At least 5 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or Backend Software Engineer

What you'll be doing day to day

You will help lead the domain by developing and operating data products and solutions that influence business, people, and product decisions. Your work will contribute to better experiences for both our co-workers and customers.

You will apply modern data and software engineering practices to build resilient, flexible, and scalable solutions. Your job will be a mix of understanding business needs, designing data solutions, and, of course, writing code. For example, we are developing metrics, statistical and machine learning models, dashboards, and tools to answer questions such as:

How can we help our markets excel at supporting our clients' needs in the remote channels?

How can we enable comprehensive and actionable analytics, and promote data-driven decision-making?

How can we leverage AI to improve customer and coworker experience?
