Combine geophysical analysis with hands-on fieldwork and contribute to mineral exploration in a varied role with excellent opportunities to grow.
The sustainable transformation begins with us
We are facing our greatest challenge yet – ensuring that Sweden and Europe have what it takes to transform. So that we can live the lives we want, both today and tomorrow. In the same way that we strive to improve the future, we are committed to developing everyone who joins us on this journey, both personally and professionally.
Would you like to be part of laying the foundation for the way we live – and for the world around us?
Your role
As a Geophysicist within our Mineral Exploration team, you will bridge the gap between advanced data processing and practical field operations. Your responsibilities naturally follow the seasons—dedicating summer periods to dynamic fieldwork and ground data acquisition and focusing during the winter months on comprehensive data processing, 3D modelling, interpretation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Data Processing & Interpretation: Process, model, and interpret multidisciplinary geophysical data to delineate targets and refine geological models.
Field Acquisition: Lead and participate in hands-on geophysical surveys and data collection campaigns across active exploration sites.
Exploration Strategy: Provide critical geophysical insight to optimize drilling programs and advance mineral exploration initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with exploration geologists and specialists across LKAB, including geotechnics and mining operations.
Project Participation: Engage flexibly in a wide variety of project stages as organizational needs and strategic exploration priorities evolve.
You will work both independently and together with others. Close collaboration with fellow geophysicists, geologists and field technicians is essential for success in this role, as exploration projects rely on combining different areas of expertise and perspectives. The varied assignments and opportunities to participate in different projects provide excellent potential to develop within your professional field.
What you bring
We are looking for a geophysicist who thrives in a dynamic environment where fieldwork, data interpretation and collaboration go hand in hand. You have a structured and solution-oriented way of working, communicate your findings clearly and can translate complex data into valuable insights. You enjoy working closely with colleagues from different disciplines and contribute to a collaborative team environment. You are reflective and thoughtful in your decision-making, with an ability to balance technical opportunities with responsible use of resources to create sustainable and effective exploration solutions.
We are looking for someone who has:
Education: Higher university degree in geophysics. Strong background in physics.
Experience in mineral exploration: Candidates with several years of relevant experience in mineral exploration will be given preference. However, all applications will be considered and reviewed based on the overall qualifications and experience of the candidate.
