Role Summary
This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden
As a Product Verification & Test Rig Engineer, you will combine hands-on ownership of HIL and SIL test rigs with verification of the Workshop Suite (tWS) in physical trucks. You will ensure that the rigs are correctly built, configured, maintained and operational according to the needs of development and test teams. This includes installing and replacing ECUs and other rig-related hardware, performing software updates, configuring rigs and connected systems, and troubleshooting hardware, communication and integration issues. In addition to the rig responsibilities, you will verify tWS as a complete product in physical trucks, with particular focus on end-to-end quality, robustness, reliability and vehicle safety under realistic operating conditions.
Job Responsibilities
- Build, configure, commission and maintain HIL and SIL test rigs, including installation and replacement of ECUs and other rig-related hardware.
- Perform software updates and configure test rigs and connected systems with the required software, data and system settings, while maintaining documented software baselines and rig configurations.
- Troubleshoot rig hardware, communication interfaces and system integrations, and verify that HIL and SIL test rigs are operational and meet the agreed needs of development and test teams.
- Coordinate and administer rig-related work, including planning activities, prioritizing requests, following up on actions and aligning rig availability with the needs of development and test teams.
- Plan, design and execute end-to-end verification of tWS as a complete product in physical trucks, assessing its behavior and quality under realistic operating conditions.
- Assess the quality, robustness, stability, reliability and safety-related behavior of tWS; document deviations and support root cause investigations together with development teams.
Who You Are
You are a hands-on and experienced test engineer who enjoys combining practical rig engineering with structured product verification. You have at least 4 years of relevant professional experience in HIL/SIL test rig engineering, verification of software products in physical trucks, or closely related work.
- You have experience building, configuring, commissioning, maintaining and troubleshooting HIL and SIL test rigs, including ECU installation and replacement, software updates and configuration of connected systems.
- You understand vehicle electronic systems, ECU interactions, and the information exchange between the truck, ECUs, tWS and supporting systems. You can use this understanding to verify tWS as a complete product in a physical truck.
- You work systematically, take ownership and communicate clearly. You are comfortable collaborating across development and test teams, analyzing logs and system behavior, documenting rig configurations and deviations, and supporting technical issues through to resolution.
- You have at least a Class B driving license (preferable Class C)
Experience supporting shared HIL and SIL test rigs and using test and defect management tools such as JIRA or Zephyr is advantageous.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds – your unique experience and perspectives is valuable to us.
